Biography
Dr. Matildah Kaliba is a Lecturer and Researcher in the Department of Development Studies at the University of Zambia. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies with Economics from the University of Zambia, an MPhil in Development Studies, specialising in Geography, from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, and a PhD in Development Studies from the University of Zambia. Her research and teaching interests include the political economy of development, natural resource governance, climate change, disaster risk reduction, sustainable livelihoods, and gender and development. She has particular expertise in mining and agro-food value chains, local content, value addition, industrial upgrading, and environmental, social and governance (ESG) frameworks. She is also a trainer on the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Risk Management programme. Her work examines how public policy, regulatory frameworks, and corporate practices can advance inclusive, resilient, and environmentally sustainable development, particularly for marginalised communities.
