Biography
Dr Namunda Mutombo is a seasoned Demographer with over two decades of experience in demography, gender, and reproductive health, integrating human rights and social inclusion approaches. He holds PhD, MA, and BA degrees in Demography, and serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Demography, Population Science, Monitoring & Evaluation at the University of Zambia. Between 2021 and 2024, he was employed as Population & Development Specialist at UNFPA Zambia, where he led evidence generation for program administration. He was also active in UN and national technical groups, including the Joint UN Data, M&E Group and the Vulnerability Assessment Committee of the DMMU. His career includes international and local academic roles, technical advisory positions, and consultancy on national and international population policies and frameworks, including the SDGs and ICPD.BA (UNZA), M.A PhD (ANU). Dr. Mutombo has several publications in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, family planning, HIV and AIDS and fertility dynamics.
