Mwewa Kasonde is a Lecturer of Demography at the University of Zambia, with over 10 years of experience in training facilitation, research, evaluation, data analysis and report writing. She holds a Master of Arts degree in Population Studies and a Bachelor of Art degree in Demography (with Development Studies) from the University of Zambia. She has contributed to research, surveys, and monitoring and evaluation assignments for public and private sector institutions/ agencies such as the Zambia Statistics Agency (ZamStats), Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship (DNRPC), MCDSS, ILO, UNFPA, UNICEF, Care International Zambia, National Organisation for Women in Sports, Physical Activity and Recreation (NOWSPAR). Mwewa’s research interests include fertility, contraceptive use and family planning, maternal and child health and nutrition, domestic violence, women empowerment. She has since 2024 been a reviewer for reputable international journals such as BMC Public Health, Reproductive Health, Women’s Health. She has published on spousal violence, unintended pregnancy, teenage pregnancy, contraceptive use.
