Prof. Vesper H Chisumpa is an Associate Professor of Demography and Population Studies in the Department of Demography, Population Sciences, Monitoring and Evaluation at the University of Zambia. His research interests are in determinants and causes of adult mortality, social determinants of health, mortality analysis and death registration systems, demographic data systems, health demography, social epidemiology, population health, population and development, population projections and models, demographic analysis, direct and indirect demographic estimation, statistical modelling, gender equality, and monitoring and evaluation. He has published working papers, book chapters, and articles in reputable peer-reviewed local and international journals. He also serves as a peer-reviewer of journal articles. He has presented papers at local and international conferences. Prof. Chisumpa has served as a Demography and Population Expert in national census and survey undertaking in collaboration with the Zambia Statistics Agency (ZamStats). He is a member of the Board of Directors at ZamStats (Term: 2024-2027). He is also a member of the following professional organisations: International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP), International Statistical Institute (ISI), Union for African Population Studies (UAPS), and Zambia Monitoring and Evaluation Association (ZaMEA). In addition, he is a member of the United Nations Measuring Adult Mortality Community of Practice. His education qualifications include, BA (UNZA), MA (UNRIPS-Ghana), PGDip-Pub Health (UWC), MPhil (UCT) and PhD (Wits).
